Insurance Claims
What the work involves.
A roof insurance claim in Texas usually starts with a storm and ends with a replacement, and the part in between is paperwork most homeowners have never dealt with before. We work with all insurance companies and help homeowners through that part, whether the roof is being paid for by a claim or out of pocket.
The claim is built on evidence. The inspection photographs every slope and the soft metals that show hail size, and those photos document damage that is hard to see from the ground. An adjuster will do their own inspection, and it helps to have clear photos of what the storm did before they arrive.
How It Works
Free nine-point inspection
Valleys, ridge, shingles, chimney, ventilation, gutters, drip edge and flashing, with drone photos sent to you.
Property protected
Tarps over pools and bushes, and cover for windows, garage doors and AC units before the tear-off.
Down to the decking
Old shingles and underlayment come off, the decking is inspected, and bad boards are replaced.
Rebuilt and cleaned up
Drip edge, ice and water membrane, synthetic underlayment, GAF Timberline HDZ and Z-Ridge, ventilation corrected, and a roller magnet over the yard.
The Difference
What to know before you decide.
Knowing the terms makes the process easier to follow. The deductible is the part you pay, and in Texas many policies set it as a percentage of the home’s insured value rather than a flat amount. Replacement cost value policies pay to replace the roof at today’s prices, often in two checks, with the second released once the work is complete. Actual cash value policies subtract depreciation for the age of the roof, which can leave a larger gap for older roofs.
Texas law requires homeowners to pay their deductible, and a roofer is not allowed to waive or absorb it. Any contractor offering to cover your deductible is offering something illegal, and it is worth walking away from. Many roofers do offer payment options that help homeowners manage the amount.
Complicated claims happen. A claim can be underpaid, a scope can miss items such as drip edge, underlayment or code-required work, and a claim can be denied on the grounds that the damage is wear rather than storm. On a difficult claim, an appraisal can settle a disagreement over the amount of loss, and a property sale or a 1031 exchange adds deadlines on top of the claim itself.
Not every storm justifies a claim. If the inspection shows sound shingles with minor cosmetic marks, filing a claim that will be denied does you no good, and we will say so. When the damage is real, the claim pays for the same replacement described on our roof replacement page, finished and backed by a lifetime workmanship warranty.

Insurance Claims, answered.
Which insurance companies do you work with?
All of them. The claim process follows the same basic steps with every carrier.
Can a roofer pay my deductible?
No. Texas law requires the homeowner to pay the deductible, and a contractor who offers to waive or cover it is breaking that law.
Will filing a claim raise my premium?
A single claim for weather damage is treated differently from other claims by most Texas insurers, but policies vary. Your agent can tell you how your carrier handles it.
What if my claim is denied or underpaid?
A denial or a low scope is not always the end of it. Better documentation, a reinspection or an appraisal can change the outcome. Bring us what the insurer sent and we will go through it with you.
How long does a roof claim take?
From inspection to finished roof, many claims take a few weeks. After a large hail storm, adjusters are busy and it can take longer.
